Migrate from VS Code
Import your VS Code settings, keybindings, and extensions in one click.
Does Cursor support my VS Code extensions?
Cursor uses the Open VSX extension registry, not the VS Code Marketplace. Many popular extensions are available, but not all VS Code extensions may be listed or work exactly the same way. See the extensions reference for details.
How do I import my VS Code settings?
- Open Cursor Settings: Mac: Press CmdCtrl + Shift + J Windows/Linux: Press Ctrl + Shift + J
- Go to General > Account
- Under VS Code Import, click the Import button
This brings over your extensions, themes, settings, and keybindings.
For more control, you can export a profile from VS Code and import it manually. See the VS Code migration guide for step-by-step instructions.
Do my keyboard shortcuts work?
Cursor shares the same default shortcuts as VS Code. Custom keybindings transfer when you import your settings.
Can I run both Cursor and VS Code?
Yes. They run as separate applications and you can use both on the same projects.
