Plugins
Plugins give your agent new tools and capabilities, ready to use out of the box.
What are plugins?
A plugin is a set of:
- Rules: persistent AI guidance and coding standards
- Skills: specialized agent capabilities for complex tasks
- Commands: agent-executable command files
- MCP servers: Model Context Protocol integrations
- Hooks: automation scripts triggered by events
Plugins work across Cursor desktop, web, and CLI. Browse official plugins in the Cursor Marketplace. For community plugins and MCP servers, browse cursor.directory. You can also build your own.
How do I install a plugin?
Browse the Cursor Marketplace or search by keyword in the marketplace panel inside Cursor. Plugins can be scoped to a project or installed at the user level.
Every plugin is a Git repository. All plugins are open source and manually reviewed before listing.
Are plugins reviewed for security?
Yes. Every plugin is open source and manually reviewed before it appears in the marketplace. Each update is re-reviewed before publishing.
